Agent Bio

Marliss in redMy greatest blessing was to grow up overseas without any television time. Sure, I missed out on The Waltons and Saturday morning cartoons, but how many kids get to ride on the back of an elephant, eat candied ants, visit every museum and chateaux in Paris, or track tigers in northern Thailand? As the youngest of four daughters, I had the example of my brilliant sisters, who read voraciously, and I bypassed Nancy Drew to read every book in the Hardy Boys series. (That was the first indication of my fascination for male heroes). By the sixth grade, I’d discovered Victoria Holt and moved back to the United States . I wrote my first book—a wretched historical novel—when I was thirteen. Two teenage years in Houston, Texas, saw me reading Harlequin romances and writing several more books.
I’ve always been an over-achiever, with so many interests it was frustrating to have to choose just one career. I could have been an opera singer—but no. I excelled in language and for many years taught high school English, Spanish, and then Linguistics at the College of William and Mary, my alma mater.
But my first love, writing romance, remained a dream for decades. I wrote throughout my twenties and early thirties, completing more manuscripts, getting really serious with agents and publishers, etc. Danger’s Promise, a medieval romance, was finally published in 2002, becoming a RITA finalist for Best First Book. Since then, I’ve discovered that military romance is my best fit. I’ve been the wife of an Army officer, who died young, and my husband now is retired Navy.
My personal life is frankly hectic. We have six children between us, ranging in age from 8 years to 24 years old. Most of “the olders” still have one foot in the nest. But I always find time for my loyal readers, so feel free to introduce yourself to me, as I have to you.
Yours truly,

Marliss

Romance…. My Way Blog Hop

I have many favorite tropes but this go around I thought I would talk about one of my favorite reading devices, the audiobook!!!

I hate the gym, it is an evil place that holds no lure for me. But my doctor says I have to workout. Well that, and I refuse to go up another jean size! Yeah, I wish I were the size I was when I first thought I was fat. That is now the goal weight. How times have changed.

Anyway, I routinely complained that I do not get endorphins from exercise, mine come from reading.  Oh hey, let's combine the thing I loathe with one that I love. Eureka, audiobooks are the perfect solution to my dilemma.

After successfully using audio as a bait for exercise, I tried it with cleaning, long drives and mindless work on my computer!! Ah, love!! I even managed to convince the teens I work with to listen while playing video games!! What a way to make that time more productive!!

There are some who argue this is not really reading, but there are many studies out there that prove audiobooks are great for improving vocabulary, reading comprehension and concepts. It is also a way to get around those pesky classics teens find dull.

With a great narrator a story will come to life. Audiobooks are on the rise and so many out there are amazing listens. I have a nice little list of narrators that I fangirl over as much as the authors they read!! There are even more smexy books popping up on Audible and publisher sites.

For this hop I want you to check out my audiobook blog Eargasms and tell me what you think. Love it, hate it, think I should change it up to a traditional format? If you like to listen then give it a follow. I have loads books already posted and more to come!!

Audiobook Review & Giveaway - Nice and Naughty by Jayne Rylon

Yeah, it is finally here!! One of my favorite naughty authors has been working on making one of her novellas into an audiobook!!! I was living vicariously through her with this project, as she asked my advice on narrators. I am one of the few audio-bibliophiles she knows, which makes me a pseudo expert! I promise not to let that go to my head, much!

It was such hard work listening to all those smexy male voices. Yummy gravely growls and deep baritones. Sigh, it was such a chore! In the end she picked a delicious narrator who really brings the story to life, while setting panties on fire!!

Justin Winston got more than he bargained for on his refreshing summer drive, but now he’s entangled the woman of his dreams in a web of murder and corporate espionage. ~~~~~MY REVIEW~~~~~

Nice and NaughtyNice and Naughty by Jayne Rylon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a yummy fun read!! It kicks things of fairly quickly, wicked little roadside steam!!! This is a very smexy read, loads of steam and variety packed into this short read. I love a hot twin menage!! Oh girl, forget the panties cause you will just have to change them later!

Even though the feeling develop quickly I am willing to let it slide, sometimes lust feels like love. And hey this is fantasy, ain't nobody got time to build a relationship!! Still, I felt the liking and the connection between the three.

The story is very well written and fast paced. The side mystery is interesting without being overly complicated. For such a quick story I was really drawn in, I even had a sniffle/tearing up moment at the end.

I listened to the audiobook and it was a real treat!! Hello smexy voice, Gregory Salinas can read to me anytime!! Seriously call me up and read the phonebook!! He has a delicious growl to his voice that makes a girl swoon. Warning - Do not listen to this at work, you will not be able to concentrate on simple tasks and stout balding co-workers will suddenly look appealing. All the result of one smexy voice and some wickedly hot detailed steam!! He reads with such energy and enthusiasm, that a girl has to pause or embarrass herself in public!!

I can only hope Ms Rylon puts more of her books on audio using this delicious narrator who gives multiple eargasms!!
