Romance…. My Way Blog Hop

I have many favorite tropes but this go around I thought I would talk about one of my favorite reading devices, the audiobook!!!

I hate the gym, it is an evil place that holds no lure for me. But my doctor says I have to workout. Well that, and I refuse to go up another jean size! Yeah, I wish I were the size I was when I first thought I was fat. That is now the goal weight. How times have changed.

Anyway, I routinely complained that I do not get endorphins from exercise, mine come from reading.  Oh hey, let's combine the thing I loathe with one that I love. Eureka, audiobooks are the perfect solution to my dilemma.

After successfully using audio as a bait for exercise, I tried it with cleaning, long drives and mindless work on my computer!! Ah, love!! I even managed to convince the teens I work with to listen while playing video games!! What a way to make that time more productive!!

There are some who argue this is not really reading, but there are many studies out there that prove audiobooks are great for improving vocabulary, reading comprehension and concepts. It is also a way to get around those pesky classics teens find dull. 

With a great narrator a story will come to life. Audiobooks are on the rise and so many out there are amazing listens. I have a nice little list of narrators that I fangirl over as much as the authors they read!! There are even more smexy books popping up on Audible and publisher sites.

I love romance novels off all sorts, give me the sweet young adult books with their first blush of love, the yummy cops and firefighters, delicious Alpha males and naughty erotic reads. 

There are also all those themes, as a youth I was introduced to so many by all the Harlequins I read. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Enemies  to Lovers - This is when the two people hate each other, or at least they act like it, but all that passion comes to a head in a very different manner. My favorite example of this is in Much Ado About Nothing, Beatrice and Benedict are two of Shakespeare's greatest enemies who are tricked into love!

2. Siblings Best Friend - These are the couples who have known each other for years, seen each other in all those awkward growing moments. They generally have to overcome the siblings objections.

3. Bad Boy and Good Girl - These are the guys you just can not resist, they are not really bad, just rough around the edges. Every good girl has a touch of naughty in her looking to get out. These are pairings that usually turn out to be the best compliments to each other.

Alanea Alder - A new author who started out last year, she really kicked things off with a bang!! She has the smexy mixed shifters series the Kindred of Arkadia. The first two books had a slight narration issue but ever since then they have been fabulous!! She has some hawt bears, Alpha wolves and smoldering vamps! Can't wait to see what she comes up with in the new year!

Jennifer James - She has a few series she is working on, great concepts. Her newest series is Mythology based,  The Nymphs of New York, really smexy reads!! Super excited for more books!! Really awesome concepts, I am always eager for the next read! Perhaps, I could show a touch more patience.

Jenika Snow - I discovered her in the fall and have been a stalker ever since!! She has yummy bear shifter brothers in the Wylde Bears. Uber yummy Alpha men who go straight for their mates, delicious steam! That series was so great and loved she did a spin-off with the Sweet Water series. Every book is better than the last, great mixed shifter couples and always a terrific story to accompany the steam!

Heather Rainier - One of the first erotic series I gave my Gram to read. She was addicted from book one of the Divine Creek Ranch series. Yummy cowboys, sassy women and great romances! These books are always marathons, not quick little reads, but everyone is awesome! Each book brings a new couple while still visiting with past pairings. Some are menage, some MF and a few have yummy light BDSM action!

Each of these ladies have given me countless hours of entertainment, so I want to give a little back to them!! I have many more authors I adore but I wanted to give big love to these awesome writers. Mostly because they are among my most recent reads.

Brock and Slater - Hers - Hazel Gower - They are a delicious duo!! This is the third book in the series and the best to date! And it has a smexy cover!!
Rex - Accidentally Were - Anne Douglas - One of my first Were-bear reads!! I would probably say this was the guy who started it all for me!!
Bram - Fighting for His Girl - Jenika Snow -  He is just the sort of bear I love, gruff and tuff on the outside but gentle and sweet for his girl! This is the last book in the trilogy and my fav of the series so far.
