GUEST POST BY JAIME WYMAN
So you want to know all about my Literal Hottie, do you? Be
careful what you wish for, darling, because once he’s in your head, there’s no
kicking him out. Marius. You know how
there are some celebrities that only need one name? Bowie. Madonna. Cher. Yeah,
he’s kinda like that. All you need to say is, “Marius.”
He’s about an even six feet tall, with a lithe build.
Marius’s glossy black hair hangs in thick waves past his shoulders, but he
usually keeps it back in a sleek ponytail. To say he’s easy on the eyes is an
understatement to the point of insult. His features are long and sharp, his jaw
coming to a devilish point. Beneath the goatee and mustache, Marius’s
expression is one of a permanent smirk. There’s something he knows that you
don’t, and he relishes the way you squirm while you’re trying to suss it out.
It’s his eyes, though, that might kill you. Pale green, like the underside of a
leaf. You could spend years gazing into them and still not have any clue what
the man is thinking. And yet, sometimes, you’ll catch a glimmer of him—the true
him that he’s so desperate to hide—and there’s such a beauty there, such a
depth, that you can’t look away.
He has a love for extravagance: delicious food, the best
wine, and you will find him dressed to impress in nothing less than
custom-tailored Armani.
Marius’s voice is a mellow baritone with a British accent
that is smooth as London Fog. With his silver tongue he can coax you to sell
your own mother for just a taste of his lips.
Did I forget to mention that Marius is a satyr? Oh, sure, he
uses a glamour to hide his horns and goat’s legs, but Marius cannot buck his
nature. He comes from the ancient race of beings that not only thrive on the
sensual, but they are the navigators of every pleasure. And Marius has had
centuries to hone this talent.
For all his glamours and pretty words, Marius’s life isn’t
all wine and roses. He’s spent the past few centuries working off some
unmentionable debt to Eris, the Greek Goddess of Discord. These days, his job
is to act as the Lady’s personal assistant. While this usually means he liaises
between Eris and other deities—or mortal employees like Catherine
Sharp—sometimes Marius is called upon to perform more, shall we say,
clandestine tasks.
Marius is wickedly snarky. His charm is in his wit. Well,
Cat wouldn’t say that. Cat would just say that Marius is a pain in the ass.
This doesn’t bother the satyr, though. In fact, he sees Catherine as a
particularly delectable challenge.
