I got started reading paranormal romance when I read Maggie Shayne's Twilight Memories. I got hooked on hot & streamy romance when I read Lora's Leigh's Harmony' Way. Thanks for sharing the hop and your giveaway. evamillien at gmail dot com
I don't remember the title of the book, but it was one of those cheap Mira novels.
It was about a rich girl who as a ugly duckling teenager had a crush on this bit older, good-looking neighbour guy, but when he came after a few years to visit her parents, she overheard him making fun of her to somebody, because he thought she still looked ugly. Which of course made her want to get back at him, so she decided to humiliate him by making him fall in love with her and then probably dump him, so somehow she got hired by him to work at his home, and of course he fell in love with this beautiful girl, except that she fell in love with him too. After some drama, I think it ended happily with them getting together.
I'd really like to remember what book that was, as I'd really love to reread it.
After searching the net, I think I've found the title! I can't believe it, after so many years of wondering:) I'm 99% sure it was "Maid to Measure" by Roberta Leigh.
Great hop! I started with Harlequin novels and I still revisit them. They were mostly romantic suspense. I love them for a nice, predictable but usually exciting and hot read!
I was hooked into romance as soon as I read my first YA romance book. Though, honestly, I don't remember which book that was. I do remember which book got me into adult romance: Pretty Persuasion. It isn't even my favorite romance now, but I still remember it because it got me hooked into the genre :)
OMG! I'm 50 and you expect me to remember the first one?!? I know it wasn't one of hers, but in junior high (keep in mind it was the 70's and I was 12ish) I was a big fan of Barbara Cartland.
LOL!! Anne, I changed my question after seeing your comment! I thought if I am honest I would be hard pressed to name the book that started it all, too!
It was a Jude Devereaux, but honestly I sped through her entire collection in about a week and I cannot recall which one I started with. :) zoe@zoeforward.com
Charade by Sandra Brown for all of her novels and for adult romance. Or maybe you could count Barbara Cartland, because it might be the very first romance book I read. :)) Lisa Kleypas for Historical Romances, Debbie Macomber and Diana Palmer for Harlequins, Shiloh Walker for Eroticas (well, the light one since I'm a vanilla person. :D
Kristen Ashley's Motorcycle Man got me completely hooked to alpha-male heroes and of course romance in general! Thank you for the giveaway! jgorena@gmail.com
My first was Diana Gabaldon, then after a 15 year hiatus, I discovered Lorelei James. She really got my juices going and got me hooked. Mel bournmelissa at hotmail dot com
I can't even remember. I've been reading Laurell K Hamilton forever, Diana Gabaldon like the lady above me, Nora Roberts, I found my grandma's stash of the sexier harlequins when I was 12 or so. LOL Thanks! heather1974 at gmail dot com
It was the very first pack book by Shelly Laurenston, Pack Challenge that got me hooked on paranormal romances. I started out reading the Harlequin romances waaaaaay back in the day when I was a teenager and graduated to authors like Kathleen Woodiweis and Rosemary Rodgers who were considered very risque back then. Now I love the erotic paranormal romances best. Thanks for being part of the hop and for the chance to win. <^_^> reneebennett35 (at) yahoo (dot) com
The author who got me hooked on romance is the first one I ever read: Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind. Then, after I had "discovered" romance through that book, I went on to Kathleen Woodiwiss and Rosemary Rodgers. jdh2690@gmail.com
I began reading romance a very long time ago and then stopped because it became dull for me at about age 15 or so; I don't remember what author really "hooked" me on it at the time. I began reading romance "related" books when I got hooked on the paranormal genre. Romance seemed to be a part of the story, so I kind of backed into romance, to get my paranormal fix. Now, I like it, though I still prefer there to be another component to the story, such as a mystery, etc. Straight romance still isn't my thing (erotica is a bit different, I must say...I've just discovered it, and I like reading it for its own sake). michelle_willms@yahoo.com
I started out reading Harlequin super romances. I still like their Blaze and Desire books for a quick read but I prefer less predictable stories. kumquat8 at hotmail dot com
I would say Julia Quinn and Johanna Lindsey's books got me hooked on historical romance. I remember reading a book from the Bridgerton series and one from the Malory novels and that was it. I had to find the rest of them STAT!
men in uniform romances are currently my fav... K. Ashely's fault :D paranormal romances... J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood is THE paranormal series for me.
I think what got me hooked on the Romance genre was Sherrilyn Kenyon and Stephanie Meyer. That was the start of my love for PNR! Thank you for the wonderful giveaway. trb0917 at gmail dot com
