Spotlight & Giveaway - Lynn Ricahrds McQUADE

McQUADE:  The Lone Wolf Takes A Mate

McQuade Jenner was a lone wolf.
He didn't need some antiquated idea of one mate for life messing up his perfect bachelor lifestyle. On any given night he could find a biker groupie–human or shifter–reckless enough for a one-time fling  with a wolf. He could bed a woman when he felt the need and go home to the solitude he enjoyed. And that's exactly what he'd intended to do the night Rose Spencer walked into his life–alone, wet, and trouble just waiting to happen. He’d never intended to get involved with the innocent Rose–she was a life-time commitment and McQuade didn't do commitment. But what was a wolf protector supposed to do when the woman his wolf wanted was threatened by a low-life lion shifter?

Rose Spencer wasn't the bar-scene type. She'd never have stepped foot inside the shifter bar unless she’d been trying to protect her sister–again. When would she learn that Alice was quite capable of taking care of herself–and that she was the one suddenly in need of protection?
This is a title intended for mature audiences only.

About the Author:

I first discovered the world of self-publishing in February 2011, when my 7-month-old son was admitted to the hospital with severe respiratory issues. During his stay in the hospital, I tried to keep us both entertained by downloading several books on my Kindle and reading them out loud.
I read a number of self-published books and realized that I had an opportunity to share my writings with the world. I soon decided to quit my full-time job in the insurance and financial services industry, stay home with my son and write. It was the best decision I've ever made. My son's health has improved drastically, and I've never been happier.

I prefer to read and write YA fantasy, romance, and paranormal romance. The next book in my Rapid City Wolves series, “Blood Oath,” will be released for Amazon Kindle on June 1, 2013.

A Witch's Handbook of Kisses and Curses (Half Moon Hollow, #2)Description~

But a series of ill-timed omens and a deathbed promise to her grandmother have sent her on a quest to Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky, to secure her family’s magical potency for the next generation. Her supernatural task? To unearth four artifacts hidden by her grandfather before a rival magical family beats her to it.

Complication Two: her new neighbor, Jed Trudeau, who keeps turning up half naked at the strangest times, a distraction Nola doesn't need. ~MY REVIEW~

A Witch's Handbook of Kisses and Curses (Half Moon Hollow, #2)A Witch's Handbook of Kisses and Curses by Molly Harper
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I admit when the email telling me I was receiving a digital ARC of this book came through I giggled like a school girl and did a happy dance with my kindle!!! I adore this author and the chance to read a new book in a series I love before it's official release had me over the moon!!

I must begin by telling you I usually listen to audiobooks of the series be cause the narrator, Amanda Ronconi is fantastic. She really brings the characters to life! As I read this book it is her voice I will her in my head!

Half Moon Hollow is one of those wonderful eccentric town you wish really existed. I would've there in a heartbeat. Sadly that is not an option so I must satisfy my self with extended visits in each new book.

Once again Molly Harper created fantastically quirky characters who make it hard for you not to love them. Add in appearances from the menagerie of past characters and hilarity ensues! Any fan of the series will be delighted with this newest addition. Laugh out loud funny at times, always engaging and another thrilling joyride through Kentucky's quirkiest town!

Nola is a witch who is at odds with herself. She wants to be normal when she should concentrate on being extraordinary. She moves to the Hollow on a quest and quickly becomes part of the gang. So many funny moments occur due to misunderstandings about ancestry!

Jed is a bit of a mystery for most of the book. He is a perfect match for Nola and helps her come into her own. They have some really sweet sensual scenes and the details stop just this side of steamy. They get hot and heavy a few times but it is mainstream not erotic so you have to imagine the details for yourself.

The plot line in this book flows nicely and the pace was wonderful. Never a dull moment to be had! It is always fun catching up with the leads of pervious books. Really the gang is all here, Jane and Andrea are prominent. Gabriel, Zeb, Jolene, Iris and Miranda make cameos. Dick Chaney is always a crown pleaser!

This is the third book in the Half Moon Hollow spinoff series, you could read it as a stand alone, but why would you? To truly appreciate all the nuances of the town and characters you really need to have read all the Jane Jameson and Half Moon Hollow books that came before this one. Besides Molly Harper is awesomely addictive, once you pick up that first book you will need to read it straight through. Then after words like a crack addict needing a fix you will desperately want to read the next book! Finally you will be like me stalking her web page, Facebook, twitter and Goodreads in hope of some small mention of the next book and release date!

Welcome to my world!

Wrestling With Temptation...wrestling with finishing the book!

Argh!!! I hate giving bad reviews and usually do not go overboard with them. I am a firm believer in the subjectivity of art. Things I hate others think are genius. I try to focus on the main things like writing, concept and characters. There are several notable occasions where very popular books were useless drivel to me. Maybe it is because of the volume of reading I do and how spoiled I get with good writing. I just can't sit through bad storytelling! I was not one to tout the virtues of Fifty Shade, I could barely get through the damn thing. Unlike others it had nothing to do with he genre, I like a good BDSM as much as the next girl.

So, I recently started a series that sounded really interesting. The concept drew me in and the premise was unique. When I started reading I noted some things seemed off with the storytelling but nothing too major. About halfway through the book everything changed. My steamy romance turned into a dark BDSM horror story. It was really a major change.

Wrestling With Temptation (Temptation, Wyoming #1)
One of the major characters did seriously unlikable things. I thought how am I supposed to rout for this guy? He was straight evil and I don't think it was all the situation. I just could not get past many of the things he did and was disgusted when he warranted a HEA with the other characters.

The dark BDSM mostly came from one of the main characters who was a sadist, not my kind of Dom. He also practiced verbal humiliation, slut this, whore that. No thanks. There were also several mentions of rapes and forced seductions, plus a whole scene where one of the characters was in wolf form having sex with a human. Gross. This really should have a warning from the publisher!

After all that I want to know did anybody else read this series? What did you think? The other books still sound interesting but I worry they will be as dark and unappealing as this book. I will admit I skimmed through most of the end chapters just to make myself finish. Most everybody on Goodreads had 4-5 starts up but not many reviews.
