Spotlight & Giveaway - PAST REGRETS by Shelley Munro

Past Regrets
by Shelley Munro

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Never look back…unless that’s where your heart belongs.
Love and Friendship, Book 2
Julia Maxwell was a seize-the-moment party girl until the night she spent with up-and-coming rocker Ryan Callander. From that moment, she was a one-man woman. Pity he hasn’t kept with the program.
Tired of the secrets that have kept her out of the press and Ryan’s fans happy, angry with mounting evidence of infidelity, Julia is older, wiser, and determined to divorce his cheatin’ ass.
Ryan’s long European tour had more than its share of hard knocks—one of which landed on his head when he was mugged. Divorce papers waiting for him at home are a shock that fills in some of the holes in his sketchy memory. But it could be too late to salvage his marriage.
If Ryan thinks flirtatious smiles, seductive touches, and hot-and-heavy kisses are going to smooth things over, Julia’s got a hammer with his name on it. To her surprise, he picks it up, determined to rebuild a bright future for both of them. But the past is lurking with some missing pieces that could bring their hearts crashing down.
Warning: Contains a pissed ex-stripper turned burlesque dancer, a bunch of nosy friends and a smooth-talking rocker with one thing on his mind. Stripper poles and skimpy costumes may be involved.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Excerpt :

“Julia!” Ryan crossed the room in seconds flat and grabbed her into a tight embrace before she could react. His familiar scent rolled over her, masculine with a hint of spicy green and the outdoors. He pressed her head to his chest, apparently content to hold her against his trembling frame. For long seconds she let him, too stunned to react. Then her shock gave way to fury, and she lashed out with her foot, kicking him in the shin.

“Ow!” He released her abruptly, an aggrieved scowl distorting his pretty face. “What did you do that for?”

Cripes, she’d broken her foot, not that she’d admit it to him. She gathered the pain and hurled it back in harsh words. “You can’t come waltzing back after nearly a year and expect me to welcome you. Didn’t you receive the divorce papers?”

“I don’t want a divorce.” His blue eyes bored into her. Determined. Steady. He glanced at their avid audience. “Maybe we should take this somewhere private?”

Julia dug in her heels, feeling contrary. He had no right to burst into her life again. And as for orders—forget it. She squared her shoulders and glowered at him. “They’re my friends. They can hear anything you have to say to me.” Aw, heck. Ryan. She’d thought she’d hate him… No! She did hate him. “You cheated on me.”

“When did Julia get married?” Susan asked.

Curiosity buffeted Julia in waves, coming at her from all directions. Great. Just great.

She lowered her voice, steeling herself against his charisma. One look at his dark hair, blue eyes and strong runner’s body and her willpower seeped through the soles of her favorite high-heel pumps. Go figure.

“I can’t talk to you now. We should discuss this with our lawyers present.”

A total contradiction of her previous words. Off-balance, surprise and a tinge of outrage ran hotly through her veins, yet she wanted to grab him and lay one on his sexy lips. She wanted to lick along the tail of the dragon winding around one biceps and explore the scaled body tattooed on his shoulder. How could he do this to her?

Character Interview & Giveaway - Hunger Moon by Melissa Snark

Logan interview

Fantasy Gab is a nighttime talk show dedicated to covering the latest developments in fantasy news, including the review of new books and movies. The host, Sam Smarmy is a tall, thin Caucasian man who has appeared to be in his mid-thirties for the last fifty years. His pale skin has a plastic quality and his fangy smile gleams with the wattage of a thousand light bulbs. Sam has worked on a variety of game shows and sitcoms, including The Newlywed Game and Family Feud, prior to becoming the host of Fantasy Gab.
As the opening credits to the show finish rolling, the camera reveals Sam Smarmy seated in a black recliner. He flashes his bright smile until the applause fades.
Seated to Sam's left is a gorgeous young man in his twenties with spikey brown hair and startling amber eyes. He sprawls in his chair, arms on the rests, legs wide.
"Good evening," Sam says. "Tonight, we have a special treat for our audience. Welcome Logan Koenig, werewolf heartthrob!"
"Thanks, Sam. It's a pleasure to be here."
"How does it feel to officially be a literary hottie?" Sam asks.
Logan's brow climbs. "Is it really official?"
"Yes, it must be since 'Literal Hotties Naughty Books Reviews' has provided our forum this evening and here you are..."
"Wow." Logan suggestively touches his stomach just above the top button on the fly of his jeans. He jerks away and shakes his hand as if burned. "Oh yeah, I'm smokin'."
Women in the audience shout and scream.
Sam's eyes glow; his canines get a fang on. "That you are. That you are."
Logan only grins.
After a second, Sam licks his lips and clears his throat. "I'm going to start with a question from our audience. Logan, Christine from San Francisco wants to know--what's your sign?"
A small smile plays on Logan's lips. "I was born under a bad sign."
Sam grins. "With a blue moon in your eyes?"
"Exactly."
"Have you got yourself a gun?"
"More like claws and teeth." Logan smiles to show off those teeth.
"Okay, enough, enough, before I hear from Alabama's legal reps," Sam says, waving his hand. "So you're a werewolf, eh? That makes you a pretty dangerous fellow."
"I don't think of myself as dangerous."
"You don't?  That's interesting," Sam says. "I understand your author once characterized werewolves as 'killing machines--tanks with claws'."
"That's a gross exaggeration. We're more like SUVs with claws."
The audience responds with laughter and scattered applause. Sam waits until it fades. "How would you describe yourself? Are you more of a lover or a fighter?"
"Lover. Definitely a lover." Logan smiles and winks for the audience.
Sam chuckles.  "Tell me about your role in 'Hunger Moon'."
"Sure. As the story opens, I stand accused of having murdered my mother two years before. Only I have no memory of the night in question."
"Your own mother?"
Logan's hands fist and he hesitates before answering. "Yes."
"A convenient case of amnesia?"
Logan's amber eyes flash. "There was nothing convenient about it."
Sam clears his throat. "After Valkyrie Victoria Storm comes to town, she agrees to help you investigate the murder in hopes of clearing your name."
"She agrees eventually but it wasn't all that easy convincing her to help."
Sam grins. "Is it true you threw Victoria's car into a lake?"
Logan relaxes into his recliner. His grin is cocky. "Hey, I lost my phone over that. Besides, did you see her car? I've seen nicer toilet seats."
Sam's eyes twinkle. "Was Victoria inside the vehicle when you tossed it to its watery grave?"
"It got her out of her clothing, didn't it?"
Sam snickers. "Let's talk about why Melissa Snark recently retitled the series--"
Logan's brow arches. "Retitled?"
"Yes, retitled," Sam says. "The series, formerly called 'Norse Werewolves Urban Fantasy' was recently renamed 'Loki's Wolves'. Do you have any inside information you'd care to share?"
Logan shakes his head. "Not a clue."
"Do you know what it means?"
"No. In fact, this is the first I've heard of it."
"Is that because you haven't been on the set of 'Battle Cry', the sequel to 'Hunger Moon'?"
Logan frowns and his jaw clenches. "That's correct. I've been given a few token text messages with Victoria but other than that, I don't have a key role in the next book."
Sam develops predatory intensity. "Are you being written out of the series?"
There is dead silence in the audience.
"Absolutely not."
"Are you sure?"
Logan's eyes narrow and take on a dangerous gleam. "My fans wouldn't tolerate it."
Women in the audience scream in support. Ladies shout: "We love you, Logan!" and "I want to have your baby!"
"See?" Logan says with a confident grin. "The author knows her entire series would collapse without me."
Sam chuckles. "Quite the ego you've got there. Well then, go ahead and share with us what your future holds."
"The next book after 'Battle Cry' will focus primarily on me."
Sam claps his hands. "Delightful. What can you tell us?"
"Sorry. Sworn to secrecy." Logan draws a cross over his heart with his index finger.
"Harrumph." Sam clears his throat. "Well, what about the title? Does the book have a title yet?"
Logan flushes and mumbles something indistinct.
Sam cocks his head. "Sorry, I didn't catch that. Could you repeat it?"
Logan sighs and speaks louder. "The author's working title is 'Run Logan Run'."
Sam chortles and slaps the arm rest of his chair. "Ha, that's quite clever."
"Melissa thinks so," Logan says, rolling his eyes.
"I notice you're on a first name basis with Mrs. Snark."
"I am."
"One final question before we're out of time," Sam says. "Lori from New York City wants to know--boxers or briefs?"
Logan grins. "Commando."
Female screams swell as the closing credits for Fantasy Gab roll.

Hunger Moon
(A Victoria Storm novel, #2 Loki's Wolves series)
by Melissa Snark

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Valkyrie Victoria Storm desires nothing more than to provide her wolf pack with a safe haven, but her position as priestess to the Goddess Freya also brings with it certain… obligations. Not to mention complications.
War with the Barrett family resulted in the deaths of her parents and most of her pack. Now, hunters are hot on the trail of the remaining pack members. Sawyer Barrett, a human hunter hell bent on revenge, is convinced that Victoria murdered his brother. He will stop at nothing to see her dead.
Victoria must defend the survivors and somehow lead them to safety. Months on the run has weakened the pack, and there are newborn pups to protect, making swift travel impossible. Ahead, the promise of refuge beckons.
Their best chance for survival lies in Sierra Pines, California: Arik Koenig, a powerful, dominant male wolf. He promises to protect and provide for the pack, something Victoria knows the pack needs for survival. His mysterious past is riddled with violence and death, including the slaughter of his entire family twenty years before. His wife died under mysterious circumstances and his son, Logan, is rumored to be her killer.
What is truth? Who can she trust? The desperate spirit of Arik’s murdered wife calls out for help, and Logan begs for assistance in clearing his name. Victoria must solve a murder that has pitted father against son, rooted in a mystery reaching back two decades. Her quest starts her on a journey from the human world to Odin’s Valhalla and back again.
Victoria will find salvation or face destruction beneath the Hunger Moon…
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt :

Victoria felt him before she saw him. His power washed over her with the force of an incoming tide, as dark, mysterious and unstoppable as the ocean. Her wolf rose to answer his in instinctive response, defiant and determined. She challenged his power and altered the irresistible flow so it passed around rather than over her. Before she reached the office entrance, the male werewolf responded to her presence and surged to his feet. He rounded the desk, demonstrating extraordinary grace and strength, and she braced for a physical confrontation. He dwarfed her in both height and weight.

As soon as their gazes met, they locked in a dominance contest. His narrowed eyes pierced hers; the light-pigmented brown irises were the color of honey and eclipsed the whites and round black pupils. Wolf eyes.

Victoria did not approach with her head low or avert her gaze. Instead, she challenged him outright, radiating defiance, posture stiff and erect. While they faced off, she regretted the tactical error, but it was too late to rescind. Her stubborn pride permitted no retreat, and it went against her nature to submit.

"Let's take this outside where there are no humans to bear witness," he said in a deep, resonant voice she found appealing.

Aroused, her wolf took an immediate interest in him as a fine, fit male animal. For the first time, Victoria noticed his physical appearance, and her wolf found him more than acceptable. She estimated his age as being in his late thirties. He in no way suffered for the smattering of silver hairs that peppered his dark head. He was a perfect specimen of a man.

Distracted, Victoria broke eye contact, but not to submit. She ran her gaze over his body with blatant approval, lingering on his broad shoulders and chest, muscular arms and legs. He wore a tailored navy suit with a light shirt and dark blue tie. From the way his clothing fit, there was not an ounce of spare fat anywhere on him.

His features possessed splendid symmetry, though a silver scar on his right cheek marred his perfection. The shape of his brow, nose, and lower face hinted at a distant Roman heritage. High cheekbones alluded to his Nordic blood. He cleared his throat, and Victoria scented both his arousal and amusement.

"Did you come to challenge me, or do you have something else in mind?"

His devilish smile hinted at a sense of humor, and Victoria seized on the opening. A ballsy gamble carried inherent risk, but her initial inept blundering had left her with no other graceful out. Her eyes rose to meet his once again.

"I am Victoria, daughter of Adair and Katherine, High Priestess of Freya, Lady Valkyrie, shaman, and healer," she said, making her boast. "I am also the Alpha of my pack, and I am seeking a mate. I have come to assess whether you would make an acceptable suitor."

"You're kidding." He registered surprise and disbelief.

Victoria arched her brow. "I am not."

Spotlight & Giveaway - HIGH OCTANE HEROES anthology edited by Delilah Devlin

High Octane Heroes anthology

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
What is it about heroes like Superman, Iron Man or Thor that revs our engines like no other? Is it the suit? The manly physique? Or is it the courage they display, wading in where others fear to go, to save the damsel, the city, the Earth? Are there real-life heroes who inspire the same lustful fascination? Kickass iconic heroes who enter danger zones in the name of duty, honor, country—or maybe love—who conjure images of hard, chiseled bodies, deadly glares and camouflaged features?
High Octane Heroes will satisfy the reader who craves the romantic idea of that “super alpha” man. Imagine the Navy SEAL sent on a suicide mission; the damaged Army Ranger home from war; the para rescue team member jumping into frigid waters; a SWAT team member entering a human trafficker’s den… military members and based in far-flung places around the world or the smoke-jumper living next door. Then imagine the romantic possibilities of being held against that massively muscled chest by a man whose mission is to protect and serve…
EXCERPT from Mountain Man by Tamsin Flowers
Frankie and Melody are stranded on the side of a mountain, but luckily help is soon at hand...
The day wore on and we had no food and no drink.  Frankie was shivering.  I was getting desperate; I didn’t know what to do but I knew it was up to me to do something.  That’s when my imagination started playing tricks on me.  Voices singing in the distance.  A burst of sunshine through the fog.  The herbs-and-garlic smell of my favorite Italian restaurant.  The whop-whop-whop-whop of helicopter blades.
The WHOP-WHOP-WHOP-WHOP-WHOP-WHOP of a helicopter!  Coming closer and far too loud to be imaginary.
“Hooray!  We’re saved,” I cried, hugging Frankie, as the fog was blown away by the dark silhouette of a chopper above us.
She winced in pain and I gently let her go.
“So where are they going to land?” she asked.  “They’re probably not even looking for us.”
But thankfully she was wrong.  Seconds later a man in a bright orange mountain rescue tunic and helmet was being winched down to us on the bottom of a rope.  And what a man!  He landed on our shelf, unclipped his rope and took my breath away.  Six-foot-four of mountain muscle come to take command of the situation.  My chest heaved with relief.
“Either of you ladies hurt?” he said, shouting to be heard above the whopping.
I pointed at Frankie’s leg and he dropped to his knees beside her.  After a cursory look, he swung a pack off his back and removed his helmet.  At which point I was truly lost.  No one who’s on a rescue mission has a right to be that good looking.  Not when saving a person’s life already gives them such an advantage.  His face could have been sculpted out of granite, with sheer cheekbones, a strong jaw and a long, straight nose.  But it was anything but stony; his bright blue eyes were like sparks of electricity, while the sensuous curve of his red lips sent a jolt of current right through me.  And my fingers were straight away itching to rake through his tousled blond hair.
